I have been trying to write this last blog for a few days. I loved every part of my trip. I have truly changed since this trip started. It has made me more independent and confident in myself. Before this trip I questioned what I wanted in life and where I was going to end up after graduation. Being over in Germany, and finding my own way around, really has made me know I can do anything I put my mind to. I initially was nervous to stay with a family who I didn't know, and who I knew I would have a communication barrier with. Once I arrived I was greeted with warm hugs and bright smiles. I knew from that moment I would be okay with this family.
As the days went on I grew to love my host family. We got so close, I miss them everyday. My favorite parts being in that family was my nights spent with tea and good conversation, and braiding the little girls hair before school. We all got so close so fast and I will always be thankful for that. I was blessed with two host families, I lived with my host teachers sister and went to school with my host teacher. Both families were amazing and brought so many smiles and laughter into my life. We did a lot of activities throughout this trip, they were amazing. I do wish some of our activities weren't so rushed, and that we got to enjoy more of the scenery around us. My favorite part of this trip was teaching in the schools. It was very interesting to see how they teach and how the school is run differently from ours. I really loved some of the classroom management techniques she used, and plan on using them in my own classroom. What I didn't like on this trip was just that the Berlin wall was still there. It had art to symbolize what happen, but it was still a good length of the wall that was up. It sadden me that they still had that much of the wall still standing today. This experience was the best part of my college career. I think everyone should do something like this during their college years. This experience has made me a stronger individual and more open to adventures that would scare me.

This last week has gone by way to fast. I can't believe this amazing adventure is coming to an end. I have learned so much from this experience. This week we did a lot but it was a lot more relaxing. We had more time with our hosts, which was so much fun. Thursday we went into Tubingen, this is where we took a boat ride and got to go exploring. |
