I had a fascinating experience studying abroad in Germany and visiting schools in Switzerland. It's the differences I noticed in their educational approach, particularly their early focus on the environment seemed contribute to students' independence, intelligence, and social-emotional skills. In Germany, the students got numerous breaks throughout the day. I felt like this was important because it gave the students an opportunity to relax so they weren’t burnt out before the next lesson. The students had an abundance of materials to create various forms of art. I noticed many signs displaying diverse backgrounds and options. This opportunity will definitely have an impact on my future as an educator and I learned so many valuable lessons. This opportunity has made me more confident in my teaching. I learned techniques that I definitely will be applying to my classroom.

During our stay in Germany, we had a wonderful time exploring various fun activities with our hosts. One of the highlights was attending a Fourth of July celebration at the United States Army Panzer Kaserne. The dress code was Red, White, and blue. It was a unique experience celebrating an American holiday in a foreign country, surrounded by military personnel and their families. The it offered a blend of cultures and provided a sense of camaraderie among attendees.
Visiting the picturesque lake in Titisee was another delightful experience. Titisee is renowned for its serene beauty, and spending time by the lake very a refreshing. I also went paddle boarding for the first time which was another way I challenged myself and tried something new. Lastly, attending the Freiburg Wine Festival added a touch of local German culture to our journey. Wine festivals in Germany are famous for their lively atmosphere, delicious wines, and traditional music and dance. Immersing ourselves in the festive spirit and savoring the local wines surely left us with lasting memories of our time in Germany. We got to observe and tour the history of Mercedes Benz, from its early beginnings to the present day. The exhibits showcased the evolution of transportation, technology, design, and innovation. It was fascinating to learn about the various milestones and achievements of the brand over the years. The Ben 320 Strom linear-Limousine was just one of the many cars, trucks, trains and more, representing a significant era in automotive history. There were also many other facts about all types of history. Including sports history. The World title for Cassius Clay, now known as Muhammad Ali, reminded us of the brand’s association with sports and the impact of Mercedes Benz beyond the realm of cars. The sculpture made of local fabric from Stuttgart added a unique touch, reflecting the brand’s connection to its roots and the local culture. We were able to visit Augusta Raurica Roman Ruins and our experience with a city-wide scavenger hunt. Our trip began with a visit to the Augusta Raurica Roman Ruins. I was able to take a glimpse of the amphitheater, the forum, and the temple.
After our visit to the ruins, we headed to Strasbourg to settle into our hotel. We stayed at a lovely hotel in the heart of the city, which gave us easy access to all the major sights and attractions. One of the highlights of our trip was participating in a city-wide scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt was a great way to explore the city and learn about its history and culture. We were divided into teams and given a list of clues to follow, which led us to various landmarks and hidden gems throughout the city. Overall, our short visit to Strasbourg was a wonderful experience. I was able to explore the city's rich history and culture, thanks to our visit to the Augusta Raurica Roman Ruins and our participation in the city-wide scavenger hunt. We stopped in Interlaken, Switzerland and it was amazing !!! For many of us, the ultimate goal is to reach the top of the Swiss skyline, but the journey can be scary if you are afraid of heights. We were advised to bring plenty of water, snacks, and warm clothing. This was very helpful and I’m glad I was prepared for this adventure. As we made our way up the mountain,I was treated to stunning views of the surrounding landscape. While visiting the Swiss Alps I took the time to appreciate the views and some art and snap some photos to
I was terrified at the beginning! After many pep talks ( including a few from a 3 year old) I was able to relax and enjoy the experience. I finally reached the summit, and was rewarded with an unforgettable view of Schilthorn . The snow-covered peaks stretch out as far as the eye can see. It looked like a painting . While the journey to the top may be challenging, the reward is well worth it. We stopped in Interlaken, Switzerland and it was amazing !!! An 8 hour flight might seem daunting, but there are a few things you can do to make it more comfortable. Make sure to bring a neck pillow and eye mask to help you sleep, and pack some snacks, just in case you can’t get food at the airport. You might also want to bring a book or download some movies to keep you entertained. Our flight had a few movies I liked, but that may not always happen.
Once we arrived in Zurich, and got on our train, I was excited to explore the city and see all the sights. One thing you might not expect to see is beautiful graffiti. Zurich has a thriving street art scene, and you'll find colorful murals and tags all around the city. It was nice to see some so soon in to the trip. While you're exploring Zurich, don't miss the opportunity to take a train ride through the Swiss countryside. The views are absolutely breathtaking, with snow-capped mountains, rolling green hills, and beautiful villages. Make sure to bring a camera to capture the scenery. Overall, traveling from Toronto to Zurich is an exciting adventure that's sure to be memorable. With a little preparation and some curiosity, you'll have an amazing time exploring this beautiful city and all the surrounding areas have to offer. |
