My time in Germany is coming to a close. I had many more memories in the school. I was able to watch a sports class which is what we would call gym class. It is very different though from what happens in America. The teachers of that grade are assigned a special like music, sports or art to teach that year. The teacher I was shadowing happened to be the sports teacher. They played many games that would improve their gross motor skills. It was more about fun rather than structured units about different things. The kids loved and were laughing and running around with one another. The biggest difference I saw is how honest the students were. They played a game where if the yoga ball hit them they were out and not one kid got upset or threw a tantrum about it. They simply just walked to the outside of the space and laughed with their friends as they one by one started to get out. It was beautiful to see them work together and have so much fun without being sore losers. |
